This is Kat, the Authentic Mompreneur
I want to "officially" welcome you to my world. Let me start out by telling you a little about myself. I’m a wife, mom, and serial mompreneur. I love helping other mompreneurs with their businesses and partnering with them to grow their brand through story.
So, what makes me qualified to help you as a mompreneur? Do I have a bunch of fancy degrees and certifications? A degree in being an amazing mompreneur maybe? Um... no. I do have a Bachelor of Science (in accounting), but what really qualifies me to help you is my own experience. I started my journey working a normal 8 – 5 job (as an accountant) and working as a marketing consultant, graphic designer, and copywriter on the side… for my church.
One day I realized how much I enjoyed it and boom; the rest is history.
Okay, not exactly.
I got stuck between Corporate Woman and Mompreneur
I worked a lot of hours for 7 years, between my day job and my nights and weekends (and lunch break) “side gig”. I stressed myself out for a long time. I felt like I “had to do it all”. Bring home the bacon, fry it in a pan and all that jazz. And then I got a reality check… a little thing called anxiety.
If you have ever suffered from an anxiety attack, I don’t need to say anything more and you completely understand. But for those who have not, an anxiety attack has been compared to a heart attack and for good reason. You would think that having anxiety attacks as part of my daily life would have been all I needed to make a change, but alas... I am a stubborn redheaded mompreneur. 🙂
And then this happened
So what finally did it? Well... a big life decision with a push from above. After 12 years with the same company and a myriad of excuses, I finally pulled the plug on my corporate accounting job, but my plan wasn't to make the leap into fulltime entrepreneurship. In fact, my plan was to get another one in another state (where we were planning on moving). I figured I could get another accounting job easily, but as moving day crept closer, my phone (and email) stayed silent.
Mompreneur is finally free
And then we made another decision... to stay in our current town for another year. My first gut reaction was to ask (okay beg) for my job back. Of course the position was already filled, in fact I was training my replacement at the time. I have to admit, I felt like a fool... but sometimes God allows us to look foolish for his glory and that is exactly what has happened.
I now work as a freelance writer, virtual bookkeeper, virtual assistant, marketing and branding consultant, among other things. Of course, all center around helping other moms take control of their business and time.
My Goal
My goal is to help other mompreneurs grow their business in the time their family has and get them out of the mindset that they have to do it all on their own.
